Los Angeles, March 10 (UNI) The next chapter in the legendary Godzilla saga is gearing up for a major reveal.
A first look at the upcoming film ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ will debut at CinemaCon, where Oscar-winning filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki is set to make his first appearance on the convention’s main stage.
CinemaCon will kick off its studio programming with a first look at the upcoming “Godzilla Minus Zero,” bringing Oscar-winning filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki to the convention’s main stage for the first time, Variety reported.
The presentation, hosted by distributor GKIDS, will open the April 14 “State of the Industry” program at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace during CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Attendees will see exclusive sneak peek footage from the upcoming installment in the long-running Godzilla franchise.
Yamazaki, who won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on Godzilla Minus One, will introduce the footage in a special appearance highlighting the global reach of theatrical filmmaking.
The moment also marks a milestone for GKIDS, the Oscar-winning distributor known for bringing international and artist-driven animation to North American audiences. The company was acquired by Toho in 2024, strengthening its ties to Japanese filmmaking and the Godzilla franchise, according to Variety.
“The future strength of our industry depends on a year-round diverse slate of films that speaks to audiences around the world,” said Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of Cinema United, which hosts the convention. “GKIDS exemplifies a commitment to diverse moviegoing choices.”
GKIDS president David Jesteadt added that the event reflects the company’s longstanding support for the theatrical experience.
“Godzilla Minus Zero,” currently in production, reunites Yamazaki with the franchise as director, screenwriter and VFX supervisor. Toho will release the film in Japan on Nov. 3, with GKIDS launching a wide North American theatrical release beginning Nov. 6. CinemaCon runs April 13–16 in Las Vegas.
