Give children literature, not mobile phones

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Instead of giving mobile phones to small children, they should be made to listen to grandmother’s stories, lullabies and poems, so that their brain develops properly. Children’s literature can play an important role in this. This was said by senior children’s literature writer Usha Jaiswal, who was speaking as the chief guest in the regional children’s literature seminar organized by Madhya Pradesh Writer’s Association. She said that if children’s literature is being written in abundance, it is important to make it reach the masses.

Saraswat guest of the seminar Balram Gumasta said that it is necessary to understand that a child’s brain is not an empty piggy bank, in which you can keep depositing advice as per your wish. It is very important for a children’s literature writer to know the creative nature and chemistry of the process of learning and cognition of the child’s mind, only then he will write interesting children’s literature. He recited his children’s poems ‘Hare Ho Gaye Tote’ and ‘Liya Ghonsala Ek Bana’. Patron of the association and former state president Dr. Ram Vallabh Acharya narrated his children’s story ‘Pehli Galti’. State president of the association Rajendra Gattani said that in future we will try to invite children as listeners in a children’s literature seminar. Children’s literature writer Dr. Malti Basant, invited to the seminar, recited the short story ‘Anukalan’ and children’s poem ‘Machhar Bhai’. Rajendra Srivastava recited the interesting children’s story Mili and Manchali, while Jaya Arya narrated short children’s stories ‘Shevanti’ and ‘Abhiraj ki Samjha’.
