Bhopal: In the Govindpura area, a girl formed a friendship with a local man named Rohit Dangi. Over time, their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship. However, this relationship took a dark turn when Rohit allegedly raped the girl multiple times, promising to marry her soon. When she began to pressure him for marriage, Rohit secretly vacated his rented accommodation in the locality and disappeared.
The victim, a 21-year-old resident of the colony, reported the incident to the police on Wednesday night. According to her account, Rohit had first lured her to his room in January 2025, where he assaulted her. He continued to exploit her under the guise of a future marriage, even going so far as to force her to undergo an abortion when she became pregnant.
Despite the girl’s repeated attempts to discuss marriage, Rohit consistently evaded the topic. After she insisted on their union, he fled. The police have registered a case of rape against Rohit, who is originally from Raisen district and was employed in a private job in Bhopal. Authorities are currently searching for him.
