Ghanghoria takes charge as MPYC president

Bhopal, 27 November: Yash Lakhan Ghanghoria, the newly elected President of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress, formally assumed office on Wednesday in the distinguished presence of Indian Youth Congress President Udaybhan Chib, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Jitu Patwari, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar, AICC Secretary Satyanarayan Patel, Kunal Chaudhary, MLAs Lakhan Ghanghoria, Sachin Yadav, Arif Masood, former ministers Sajjan Singh Verma, P.C. Sharma, Sukhdev Panse, IYC General Secretary (Assam in-charge) Mitendra Darshan Singh Yadav, former MLA Sanjay Sharma and newly appointed MP Mahila Congress President Reena Bourasi, among other senior leaders.

Also present were IYC General Secretary (MP in-charge) Shiv Singh Chauhan, co-in-charge Rupesh Singh Bhadauria, Puneet Pariya, Hewrans Singh Kansana, Bharat Shankar Joshi and Shambhavi Shukla.

Addressing the gathering, IYC President Udaybhan Chib accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of “stealing votes” and undermining the rights of voters. He alleged that the BJP, in collusion with election authorities, was responsible for manipulating electoral processes, adding that Congress-ruled states would have been more numerous had votes not been “stolen”. Referring to Madhya Pradesh, he claimed that nearly 25 lakh women had been excluded from the Ladli Behna scheme list.

MPCC President Jitu Patwari motivated Youth Congress workers, urging them to strengthen organisational structures at every booth with dedicated teams of 10 members under a booth president. Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar reiterated that the entire Congress organisation stood firmly with the Youth Congress. He stressed the need to safeguard voters’ rights and closely monitor alleged voter deletion under the ongoing SIR process.

After assuming charge, Yash Lakhan Ghanghoria delivered his inaugural address, beginning with poetry and declaring that the Youth Congress would strongly oppose all government policies deemed unjust or anti-people.

Soon after the ceremony, Youth Congress workers marched to the Election Commission of India’s Bhopal office to protest against the SIR process. Police deployed at the site used lathicharge and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. Several leaders, including IYC President Udaybhan Chib, State in-charge Shiv Singh Chauhan, co-in-charge Rupesh Singh Bhadauria, State President Yash Lakhan Ghanghoria, IYC General Secretary Mitendra Darshan Singh Yadav, National Secretary Hewrans Singh Kansana and other senior Youth Congress leaders were detained and taken to jail.

Thousands of Youth Congress office-bearers from districts, assemblies and blocks across the state attended the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by newly elected General Secretary Chetan Patidar, while proceedings were conducted by State Vice President Devendra Singh “Dadu”.
