Vadodara, Jan 23 (UNI) Gujarat Giants Women secured a convincing 45-run victory over UP Warriorz Women in the 14th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 at BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara, on Thursday.
Electing to bat after losing the toss, Gujarat Giants Women posted a competitive 153 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Beth Mooney was the top scorer with a well-paced 38 off 34 balls, while Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 50 off 42 balls, including three sixes, anchored the middle order. Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Anushka Sharma contributed 14 runs each.
Kranti Gaud was the pick of the UP Warriorz bowlers, picking up two crucial wickets for 18 runs in her four overs. Sophie Ecclestone also claimed two scalps, finishing with figures of 2 for 22. Deepti Sharma, Chloe Tryon, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad chipped in with one wicket apiece.
In response, UP Warriorz Women struggled to build meaningful partnerships and were bowled out for 108 in 17.3 overs. Phoebe Litchfield top-scored with 32 off 27 balls, while Chloe Tryon remained unbeaten on 30 off 22 deliveries. Renuka Singh Thakur and Sophie Devine starred with the ball, taking two wickets each, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed three crucial wickets to stem the flow of runs.
UP Warriorz lost wickets at regular intervals, with Meg Lanning managing only 14 runs off 10 balls. Despite a brief resistance from Litchfield and Tryon, Gujarat’s bowlers maintained control throughout, securing a comprehensive 45-run win.
With this victory, Gujarat continue to strengthen their position in the WPL 2026 points table, while UP face a challenge to bounce back in their remaining matches.
