French Prime Minister plans Cabinet reshuffle

Moscow, Jan 25 (UNI/SPUTNIK) French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu plans to reshuffle his government after the country’s budget is approved, the Tribune Dimanche newspaper reported citing sources close to the prime minister.

The newspaper indicated that France’s budget could be finally approved by mid-February.

Earlier, the La France Insoumise (“France Insubordinate”) and the National Rally parties announced their intention to again submit votes of no confidence to Lecornu’s government due to the cabinet’s plans to adopt another portion of the 2026 state budget without a parliamentary vote.

The French Parliament failed to pass the 2026 state budget by the end of December 2025 due to disagreements between political forces.

In late December, President Emmanuel Macron signed a special law to ensure the continuity of funding for state institutions in the absence of a new budget. Efforts to pass the 2026 state budget resumed in January.
