New Delhi, Dec 30 (UNI): Customs officials on Tuesday said they have arrested four persons in separate cases for allegedly smuggling suspected narcotics, identified as hydroponic weed, worth Rs 24.003 crores.
The accused were apprehended at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Officials said the arrests were made based on profiling.
A total of 24.003 kilograms of the suspected hydroponic weed was recovered. The accused had arrived from Bangkok on various flights and were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In September this year, in a related case, the Customs had arrested five persons in the city for smuggling 15.983 kilograms of suspected hydroponic weed worth Rs 15.983 crores. Those arrests were made based on specific intelligence inputs and the accused had also arrived from Bangkok.
