Fog disrupts flight operations across India, Passengers advised to check flight status

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) Several flights were delayed, and air operations were disrupted on Sunday as dense fog and low visibility affected aviation services across parts of the country, including the national capital.

Airlines issued travel advisories, urging passengers to check flight status before leaving for airports, as there is a possibility of flights being delayed, diversions and cancellations. Fog was reported at multiple airports, affecting schedules and flight movements.

IndiGo issued an advisory for passengers and stated that “lingering fog in Hyderabad has slowed down flight operations,” leading to short delays in departures and arrivals.

The airline also cautioned that low visibility conditions in cities such as Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Indore, Ranchi and Udaipur could affect flight schedules. IndiGo advised passengers to check their flight status through its website or mobile app before leaving for the airport.

Air India reported similar disruptions due to fog in northern and southern regions, including Delhi and Hyderabad, but said proactive measures had been taken to minimise inconvenience. Air India also highlighted its ‘FogCare’ initiative, under which passengers on select flights receive advance alerts and are allowed to change flights or seek a full refund without any penalty.

SpiceJet also issued weather updates, stating that bad weather conditions in Patna, Hyderabad and Dharamshala may affect all arrivals, departures and connecting flights. The airline requested passengers to regularly monitor their flight status on its official website.

Passengers have been urged to allow extra travel time to airports and stay updated through airline platforms as weather conditions continue to be closely monitored. Airlines said flight operations are expected to normalise once visibility improves.
