Flight ops back to normal at Delhi airport, technical glitch fully resolved

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) All flight operations, including domestic and international, returned to normal on Saturday after massive delays wre witnessed yesterday due to a snag with the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) that supports Air Traffic Control (ATC) with flight plan process.

In an advisory on Saturday, the Delhi airport said: “All flight operations are normal.”

However, passengers were advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for latest flight information and updates.

On Friday, flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport were affected due to a technical issue with AMSS, however, it was resolved last night.

The flight operations started to normalize gradually after the issue was addressed, while the authorities were on their toes to minimize passenger inconvenience.

The problem started on November 6, after a technical fault in the AMSS temporarily affected the processing of flight plan messages, and the work had to be done in manual mode.

The snag caused massive delays in flight operations on Friday, inconveniencing passengers at the airport.

According to the authorities, upon detection of the issue in the IP-based AMSS system, an urgent review meeting was convened by Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation with Vipin Kumar, Chairman AAI, M. Suresh, Member (Air Navigation Services) AAI and senior officials, who had given immediate directions to identify and rectify the root cause of the problem.

In parallel, the Original Equipment Manufacturer was engaged and additional manpower was deployed to manually process flight plans, ensuring continuity and safety of Air Traffic Control operations.

Meanwhile, a dedicated team comprising officials from Electronics Corporation of India and AAI continues to remain on-site to oversee system stability and performance.

Several airlines updated their passengers with the information taking to social media, recommending them to keep an eye on the latest flight status.
