Five injured in roof collapse at Delhi’s Jwala Nagar

New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) At least five people, including a woman, were injured after the roof of a new structure on a four-storey house collapsed in Jwala Nagar, northeast Delhi, on Tuesday morning, a fire official said.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), they received a call about the incident about 9:50 am, prompting the deployment of five fire tenders.

A rescue operation was launched by the team to ascertain whether anyone was trapped in the debris, DFS said.

Delhi Police reported that Avinish, one of the family members, said construction work was underway on the third floor to build a hall when the roof gave way.

The police said five people were injured, including two family members, a tenant, and two labourers working at the site.

Rajesh, a tenant at the site, sought treatment at the hospital on his own for minor injuries.

The injured are receiving treatment, and DFS officers said rescue operations were ongoing to ensure no one was trapped in the rubble.
