Hyderabad, March 13 (UNI) A fire broke out in a five-storey furniture shop at Chandanagar in Hyderabad around midnight on Thursday, causing panic among motorists and commuters as the building is located near a national highway.
According to police, the fire spread rapidly throughout the building within minutes due to the large quantity of furniture stored inside the shop.
On receiving information, police and six fire tenders rushed to the spot and worked to bring the blaze under control.
No loss of life was reported as the shop was closed at the time of the incident. However, property damage is expected to be significant.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
