Moscow, Aug 24 (UNI) A fire broke out at a transformer unit on the premises of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in Russia’s Kurchatov, local media reported Sunday.
According to a statement from the plant’s press service, the transformer unit was operating at a 30 percent capacity and is not the nuclear power plant’s core infrastructure, reported REN TV.
The fire has not affected the local electricity supply, which continues to operate normally, the statement said. Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, and authorities have confirmed there is no threat to public safety.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
