Fire at Kajlikheda Mall sparks panic but major tragedy averted

  • Beauty parlor and nearby gym damaged

Bhopal: A fire broke out in a beauty parlor at the IBD Hall Mark City shopping mall in Kajlikheda on Friday afternoon, creating panic among shopkeepers and visitors. The flames quickly spread to a nearby gym, but timely action by the fire brigade prevented a major disaster. The mall houses around 50 to 60 shops, raising fears of extensive damage.

The incident occurred around 12 noon, soon after the shutters of Elite Beauty Parlor, located on the second floor and operated by the wife of Prashant Kadam, were opened for the day. Eyewitness Aditya Bhardwaj reported that the fire appeared to have been triggered by a short circuit. Within minutes, the parlor was engulfed in flames.

The Kolar Fire Station was informed immediately, and firefighters arrived on the scene to battle the blaze. Meanwhile, nearby shopkeepers also joined efforts to contain the fire. The presence of sofas, chairs, and curtains inside the beauty parlor fueled the flames, causing rapid spread and extensive damage. Air conditioners, fans, and other equipment were completely destroyed, leading to estimated losses in lakhs.

The fire further reached a nearby gym, but was brought under control with the help of the fire brigade. Authorities are now assessing the full extent of the damage and investigating the exact cause of the incident.
