Bhopal: An FIR has been registered against Javed Ali, a resident of Nariyal Kheda, for assaulting an employee of the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company during an anti-power theft operation in Bhopal’s Chhola Zone.
According to Zone Manager Hanif Siddiqui, Javed Ali was found stealing electricity by bypassing his meter, for which a case was registered on February 3, 2025, and a fine of Rs 6,514 was imposed. In retaliation, Javed Ali allegedly abused and physically assaulted vigilance employee Jitendra Singh while obstructing government work.
Following the incident, Siddiqui lodged a formal complaint at Gautam Nagar Police Station under Sections 126, 296, 115, 351, and 370 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company has condemned such attacks and instructed strict action, including immediate FIR registration, against those misbehaving with or assaulting field officers. The company reiterated its commitment to tackling power theft and protecting its employees from anti-social elements to ensure smooth functioning of field operations.
