Shahdol: In a shocking crime that unfolded on Diwali morning, two brothers in Rampur Khada village, Amalai, allegedly murdered their father, Prem Lal Sahu, reportedly due to suspicions of an illicit relationship. Police have detained the two sons and launched a full investigation.
The unsettling motive for the parricide stems from the father’s unusual living arrangement. Following his wife’s death, Prem Lal had been staying for months at his son’s in-laws’ house (his samdhi’s house) in Khada.
The sons, Bablu Sahu and Rajkumar Sahu, grew suspicious that their father was having an affair with their mother-in-law. Their alarm escalated when they began to suspect he also had ill intentions toward the daughter-in-law, who had recently returned to her parents’ home and was allegedly prevented from leaving by Prem Lal.
The brothers confronted their father, and after an initial altercation at the in-laws’ place, they forcibly took him back to their home in Rampur where they allegedly strangled him to death. Amalai police are investigating the case, confirming the arrests and stating that the murder appears to be a direct result of character suspicion.
