Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday hosted an important meeting of all district presidents and state office-bearers of the Kisan Congress at the party headquarters in Bhopal. The meeting was chaired by state Kisan Congress president Dharmendra Chauhan. Among the prominent leaders present were MPCC president Jeetu Patwari, former ministers Sajjan Singh Verma, P. C. Sharma and Lakhan Singh Yadav, former Kisan Congress chief and Morena MLA Dinesh Gurjar, Deputy Leader of Opposition Hemant Katare, MLAs Babu Jandel and Pankaj Upadhyay, Seva Dal president Avneesh Bhargav, Puneet Tandon, and national Kisan Congress functionaries including Kuldeep Patel and Barua.
In his address, Mr Patwari described the Kisan Congress as a crucial arm of the party’s organisational structure. He alleged that farmers were suffering due to shortages of fertiliser and seed, as well as the spread of counterfeit agricultural inputs, accusing the Mohan government of neglecting farmers’ interests. He announced that the Congress would hold a farmers-led Assembly gherao in March 2026. Stressing that nearly 75% of the state’s population depends on agriculture, he directed leaders to expand the organisation from the block to the panchayat level, with a designated president in every panchayat.
The meeting unanimously adopted key resolutions: strengthening district and block units up to village level; systematically documenting farmers’ issues; using RTI to expose corruption in agriculture-related departments; enhancing social media outreach; and preparing for the All India Convention scheduled in Delhi on 14 December.
The session concluded with a pledge to jointly implement upcoming programmes.
