Fake Cardiologist Dr. Narendra handed over to Chhattisgarh Police

  • Accused in death of former Assembly Speaker

Damoh: In a significant development, the Damoh court on Thursday handed over accused fake cardiologist Dr. Narendra, also known as Dr. Anjon Kem, to the Chhattisgarh Police. The doctor is allegedly involved in the death of seven patients at Damoh’s Mission Hospital and is also a named accused in the high-profile death of former Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Rajendra Shukla during treatment in Bilaspur.

Dr. Narendra was produced in court after completing his police remand in Madhya Pradesh. Officers from the Sarkanda Police Station in Bilaspur arrived at the courtroom seeking his custody in connection with the case filed in Chhattisgarh. Chief Judicial Magistrate Sneha Singh approved the transfer of custody, allowing Chhattisgarh police to take him for a four-day remand after a mandatory medical examination.

Doctor issues Rs 1 lakh cheque to legal advisor amid fee dispute

In parallel court proceedings, Dr. Narendra issued a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh to legal advisor and advocate Manish Nagaich. The cheque was intended to cover the legal fees of his former counsel, Sachin Nayak, and other necessary expenses. When questioned by the judge about his relationship with advocate Nagaich, the doctor replied that he trusted the lawyer completely and needed funds to meet multiple obligations, given that all his financial accounts had been frozen.

Court ensures legal representation amid financial constraints

Due to the suspension of his bank accounts, Dr. Narendra requested that the court provide him with legal assistance. Advocate Nagaich took over the case as the defense counsel on the doctor’s request. The court acknowledged the accused’s financial constraints and permitted the arrangement.

Background: Charges in Chhattisgarh and Damoh

Dr. Narendra is facing multiple serious allegations. Apart from the deaths at Mission Hospital, he has been named in an FIR filed by Chhattisgarh police in the death of former Speaker Rajendra Shukla. Authorities suspect gross medical negligence or malpractice in both cases.

CSP Abhishek Tiwari confirmed the handover and stated that the next steps will be determined by the Chhattisgarh court, including the possibility of extending the doctor’s remand or sending him back to Damoh jail. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh police officials refrained from making any public statements.

During court proceedings, Dr. Narendra assured the judiciary that he would fully cooperate with the ongoing legal process.
