- Fostering sustainability through science
Bhopal: The Department of Science at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), Bhopal, successfully organized two insightful expert lectures and a plantation drive, supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), NCSTC, and MPCST, Bhopal. Themed “Sustainable Technology for Greener Environment: Minimize Waste, Maximise Life,” the event emphasized eco-conscious innovation and environmental responsibility.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Amit Dubey, Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, MANIT Bhopal. He discussed the role of sustainable technologies in minimizing waste and enhancing resource efficiency. His talk covered critical concepts such as the circular economy, green materials, and renewable energy applications, inspiring attendees to adopt environmentally sound practices in science and everyday life.
The second session, titled “Green Reboot: Tech-Driven Forest and Waste-Free Future”, was presented by Dr. Sakshi Bharadwaj, Founder of Junglevase, Bhopal. She introduced innovative, tech-based solutions for environmental conservation, highlighting the potential of digital tools and green start-ups in afforestation and waste reduction. Her talk motivated young minds to engage in eco-entrepreneurship and technology-enabled sustainability.
Plantation drive conducted
A plantation drive was also conducted on campus, with active participation from faculty, students, and non-teaching staff, reflecting the shared commitment to a greener future.
Dr. Fr. John P. J., Principal of BSSS, emphasized the institution’s dedication to environmental innovation, stating that such initiatives encourage critical thinking and global responsibility. Coordinated by Dr. Vandana Yadav, Head of the Department of Science, the event highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing platforms in shaping a sustainable future.
