Every effort will be for Indian Tricolour in WWC final: Harmanpreet

Navi Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) India captain Harmanpreet Kaur today said “every run, every catch, and every effort in the Women’s World Cup final is for the Indian tricolour,” calling it the proudest moment of her career.

Speaking ahead of India’s final against South Africa, Harmanpreet highlighted the team’s unity and readiness. She said the squad is fully charged, supporting one another, exchanging prayers and blessings, which reflects how prepared and united they are for the match. Many players are appearing in a World Cup final for the first time, making mental preparation as important as skill and strategy.

Reflecting on past final defeats, she added that even after losses, everyone remained inspired, believing in the opportunity to reach the final. “I always tell my team that it’s okay to feel emotions, but we must enjoy the moment and keep moving forward,” she said.

On managing the pressure of a home final, Harmanpreet emphasised focusing on small, achievable targets. “This is the biggest stage and opportunity. We focus on giving our 100 per cent and being present for the team,” she said.

She also spoke about the energy from the home fans. “The crowd has been amazing, especially in Mumbai. No matter what the situation, they are always coming and supporting us, which motivates us further,” she said.

Harmanpreet highlighted the growing impact of women’s cricket in India. She said winning the final would inspire more girls to take up the sport, adding that support for women’s cricket is steadily increasing.

Looking ahead, she said the team has trained to perform under any conditions, focusing on both skill and mental readiness. Recovery, staying fresh, and maintaining balance are key to performing at their best, she added, noting that South Africa poses a strong challenge.

India will face South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium.

Harmanpreet stressed that pride in wearing the tricolour, teamwork, and focus will be central to achieving victory.
