Icy winds grip Bhopal
For the first time this season, nighttime temperatures dipped below 10 degrees in 24 cities across Madhya Pradesh as the entire state came under the influence of chilling winds from North India. Since Wednesday morning, cold winds have been sweeping through the region. In Bhopal icy cold winds blew after sunset and it remained quite cold during daytime despite sunshine.
Gwalior experienced coldest night
Gwalior experienced the coldest night, with a minimum temperature recorded at 5.7 degrees, while Pachmarhi registered 6.0 degrees. Bhopal also witnessed its lowest night temperature of the season at 8.8 degrees.
The Meteorological Department reports a cyclonic circulation in the north-western part of Rajasthan affecting the state’s weather. This circulation, observed since Saturday, has led to a change in weather patterns. Moisture from the Arabian Sea has contributed to the cooler daytime temperatures. Additionally, dense fog has spread, and northern winds have intensified the chill throughout the day.
Meteorologist SN Sahu mentioned that western disturbance caused snowfall in the mountains, and as the snow melts, the resulting cool air is impacting the region. Consequently, both day and night temperatures are decreasing across the state. Meteorologist Ashfaq Hussain predicts that these weather conditions will persist for the next two to three days.
The Meteorological Department forecasts the presence of a Western Disturbance near Jammu Kashmir-Ladakh, which is influencing Madhya Pradesh’s weather. As a result of this disturbance, light rain is expected in many parts of the state on December 22-23.
