New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Eight Delhi Police officials, including the SHO, Additional SHO (ATO), and the Inspector (Investigation) posted at Uttam Nagar Police Station, will face a probe in connection with the alleged illegal arrest of a 20-year-old student.
The Dwarka Sessions Court directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to investigate the unlawful arrest.
The court was hearing the bail application of the student, who had been arrested and sent to judicial custody in connection with a robbery case, when it issued the order against the police officials.
An FIR related to a robbery incident was registered on July 8, but the student was arrested on the night of July 7- before the FIR was even filed.
Advocate Sumit Chauhan stated that the arrest was made without following due legal procedure, raising serious questions about police misconduct.
CCTV footage from the student’s home reveals the illegal actions of the police, showing officers entering without a warrant and forcibly taking the student away.
“The court ruled that the arrest violated the student’s fundamental rights and granted him bail. The judge also ordered a fair investigation into the conduct of the eight police personnel involved. This incident has raised serious concerns about police accountability and misuse of power in Delhi,” Chauhan said.
