Employees’ leaders voice concern over pending grievances

Bhopal: Senior employees’ leaders expressed serious concern over the growing grievances of employees belonging to the general, Other Backward Classes (OBC) and minority categories at a discussion meeting held at the Sankatmochan Hanuman Temple in Tulsinagar, Second Stop. The meeting was attended by representatives from several state government departments.

Participants said the condition of employees from these categories had steadily deteriorated in recent years, especially in matters relating to promotions, representation and access to justice. They alleged that despite sustained protests for nearly 20 days across Madhya Pradesh, authorities had failed to register FIRs linked to their demands, a situation they described as discriminatory.

Addressing the gathering, Engineer Sudhir Nayak, president of the Mantralaya Seva Adhikari/Karmchari Sangh, highlighted what he termed a prolonged stagnation in promotions since 2016. He said that although various High Court rulings have clarified that there is no legal bar on promotions for general, OBC and minority employees, the process has remained effectively frozen. As a result, he claimed, more than one lakh employees have retired over the past decade without receiving due promotions.

Following detailed deliberations, the meeting resolved to constitute a new organisation, the Sanatani General OBC Minority Officers, Employees and Pensioners Association (SAJAKS). The proposed body will take up issues related to promotions, reservation policy reforms, alleged misuse of laws, welfare measures for economically weaker employees and the demand for stronger institutional safeguards.

Representatives of officers’, employees’ and teachers’ associations were present at the meeting.
