Bhopal: Muslims across the state, including in Bhopal, celebrated Eid with great enthusiasm and devotion on Monday. The occasion was marked by special prayers, the exchange of sweets, and heartfelt greetings among friends, families, and neighbors.
In Bhopal, thousands of worshippers gathered at mosques and Eidgah early in the morning to offer Namaz, thanking the Almighty for His blessings. The city’s largest congregations took place at Eidgah and Taj-ul-Masajid, where people from all walks of life came together in a spirit of unity and brotherhood. Imams led the prayers, delivering sermons that emphasized peace, harmony, and gratitude.
Families welcomed guests
Following the prayers, people embraced each other and exchanged warm wishes of “Eid Mubarak.” Families welcomed guests into their homes, offering traditional sweets such as sevaiyan (vermicelli pudding), sheer khurma, and various delicacies. Markets and bakeries had been bustling in the days leading up to Eid, as people prepared for the festivities by purchasing new clothes, gifts, and special food items.
The spirit of generosity was also evident as many people and organizations distributed food, clothes, and monetary aid to the underprivileged, ensuring that everyone could partake in the celebrations.
Children received Eidi
Children, dressed in new outfits, were seen rejoicing as they received Eidi (gifts and money from elders), adding to the festive cheer.
Security measures were in place across the city to ensure a smooth celebration. Police personnel were deployed at major mosques and public places to manage crowds and maintain order. Traffic arrangements were also made to facilitate the movement of devotees.
Apart from Bhopal, similar scenes of joy and festivity were witnessed in other cities across the country. Political leaders and dignitaries extended their greetings on the occasion, calling for communal harmony and national unity.
As the day progressed, families continued to visit relatives, friends, and neighbors, reinforcing the bonds of love and togetherness that Eid signifies. The celebrations carried on into the night, with homes and streets adorned with lights, and the air filled with laughter and joy.
