Egypt sends nearly 1,300 aid trucks into Gaza since late July

Cairo, Aug 21 (UNI) Egypt has sent 1,288 humanitarian aid trucks into the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing between July 27 and Aug 17, according to a statistical chart released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
As many as 5,000 trucks carrying relief supplies are still waiting on the Egyptian side to enter Gaza, it showed.
Egypt has facilitated the entry of 550,000 tons of medical aid and food to Gaza since October 2023, accounting for about 70 per cent of the total humanitarian assistance sent to the enclave, according to the ministry.
The chart also recorded 168 airdrops from Egypt delivering 3,730 tons of relief supplies to Gaza, 1,022 planes from donating countries landing at El Arish Airport carrying 27,247 tons, and 591 donated aid shipments received through Egyptian ports since the beginning of the crisis.
From November 2023 to July 2025, Egypt provided medical care for injured Palestinians, deploying 209 ambulances, hosting 18,560 wounded Palestinians and their companions, and admitting them to 172 Egyptian hospitals, according to the chart.
It also showed that 35,000 Egyptian volunteers from non-governmental organisations have participated in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza has killed 62,122 Palestinians and injured 156,758 others, while causing widespread destruction to infrastructure and worsening humanitarian conditions, Gaza’s health authorities said in an update on Wednesday.
They added that famine and malnutrition in Gaza have caused 269 deaths, including 112 children.
