New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Delhi’s Education Minister, Ashish Sood, visited the Shukar Bazaar in Janakpuri to inform traders and residents about the new GST reforms implemented by the central government, which came into effect from today.
During the visit, the minister interacted with shopkeepers, explaining that the reforms aim to simplify business procedures, make the tax system more transparent, and make goods more affordable for the public.
He stated that the changes would particularly benefit Delhi’s large middle-class population, service workers, and small business owners by making life easier and leaving more money in their pockets.
Speaking on the occasion, Sood described the reforms as a “Diwali gift” from Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the festival.
He added that the timing, coinciding with Navratri, initiates a “savings festival” where reduced taxes would make shopping easier, benefiting both customers and shopkeepers.
The minister further stated that the “GST-2.0” reforms are a significant step towards strengthening the Indian economy, making it more competitive and people-friendly.
He expressed confidence that these changes would boost the capital’s economy, encourage investment, and create more employment opportunities.
Shopkeepers present at the event welcomed the reforms.
They expressed satisfaction with the tax reduction, stating that it is leading to increased sales and allowing them to purchase goods for their own homes at lower prices. They noted that the “savings festival” has provided relief to both the general public and the business community.
