ECI revises electoral roll revision schedule for 6 states/UTs

New Delhi/Lucknow, Dec 11 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states and union Territories, citing requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers.

The affected states and UTs are Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar, and Uttar Pradesh. The revised schedule includes new dates for enumeration and publication of draft electoral rolls, with the qualifying date remaining January 1, 2026.

For Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the enumeration period has been extended to December 14, 2025, with draft rolls to be published on December 19, 2025. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman & Nicobar will have an enumeration period ending on December 18, 2025, and draft rolls will be published on December 23, 2025.

Uttar Pradesh’s enumeration period will conclude on December 26, 2025, with draft rolls published on December 31, 2025.

The revision is aimed at ensuring that no eligible voter is left behind, and citizens are encouraged to fill Form 6 and submit it to Booth Level Officers or online through the ECINet App or website to get their names included in the final electoral rolls, scheduled for publication in February 2026.

The ECI has also noted that enumeration for Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal will conclude today, with draft rolls to be published on December 16.

The schedule for Kerala was revised earlier, with enumeration ending on December 18, 2025, and draft rolls to be published on December 23, 2025. On the request by the Chief Electoral Officer( CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa, the Election Commission of India ( ECI) has extended the process of Special Intensive Revision ( SIR) in the state by two weeks.

In Luknow, Chief Electoral Officer( CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa Rinwa said on Wednesday that a request had been made to the ECI for a two-week extension to systematically complete the SIR process in the state and prepare an accurate electoral rolls.

This extension would allow District Election Officers to re-verify deceased, shifted, and absent voters.

The deadline to complete the submission of enumeration forms of SIR ended today but still in UP around 18.85 % or around 2.80 crore of the total 15.44 crore voters were yet to respond.

In a statement, the CEO said that the digitization work of 99.24 per cent enumeration forms has been completed in the state. In the digitized enumeration forms, 18.85 per cent form have been marked in the category of non-returnable such as deceased, permanently transferred, absent and double-entry voters etc.

“So far, 80.29 per cent of the enumeration forms have been received back with signatures of the voter and other member of his family,” he said.

Rinwa said that 18.85 per cent of the voters’ enumeration forms are of non-returnable category, with the highest 8.22 per cent of about 1.27 crore permanently shifted voters from their place of residence, 2.98 per cent or about 45.95 lakh voters, 2.98 per cent or about 45.95 lakh have died, voters of 1.5 per cent or around 23.69 lakh such voters who are already voters in some other place as well.

Around 0.62 per cent or about 9.58 lakh voters who have not yet returned the enumeration form and 5.49 percent or about 84.73 lakh voters are absent.

He said more than 76 per cent of the mapping work of the calculation forms received from the voters from the voter list of 2003 has been completed and all the District Election Officers have been directed to speed up the mapping work and complete it at the earliest.
