Kanpur, Nov 2 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner(CEC) Gyanesh Kumar today reiterated that the Election Commission wants to make it clear that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards violence in Bihar assembly polls.
“No act of violence will be tolerated, and ordinary voters should be able to cast their votes as they wish, peacefully and transparently. The Election Commission is fully prepared for this. These elections in Bihar will set an example not only of transparency, but also of efficiency, simplicity, and a festive atmosphere,” he announced during a function here.
Gyanesh Kumar said, “It’s time for the Bihar elections. All political parties are appealing to voters in their own ways. I want to make it clear that for the Election Commission, there is no pro-government or anti-government stance; everyone is equal. The first phase of voting will be on November 6, the second phase on November 11, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.”
“I appeal to voters to celebrate this election season like a festival and to cast their ballots. The Commission is fully prepared to ensure that voters cast their ballots freely and transparently,” CEC stressed.
He said, “There are 243 returning officers, as many observers, district collectors, and Superintendent of Police (SP) deployed for the Bihar elections. We are confident that this election in Bihar will be a symbol of transparency, efficiency, and simplicity, setting an example not only for India but for the world.”
Talking about Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, he said it was carried out the world’s largest voter list purification campaign.
“The second phase the lists of 51 crore voters in other states will be purified and will a historic achievement. When this process is completed across the country, you will be proud not only of your Election Commission,” he said.
CEC attended the IIT Kanpur’s foundation day and participated in the program of Mathur Vaishya Samaj organized at TSH Sports Hub located in Swaroop Nagar.
