New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today spoke with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan and congratulated him on the US-brokered Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal.

“Congratulated him on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty reached in Washington DC.
“This is an important achievement for dialogue and diplomacy that India advocates.”
Notably, on August 8, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a US-brokered peace agreement at the White House, aiming to end decades of conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
At a White House ceremony hosted by US President Donald Trump, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also signed agreements with the United States to pursue economic opportunities together.
The peace deal is expected to normalize relations, open trade and travel routes, and respect the territorial integrity of both countries.
The agreement commits both nations to stop fighting permanently.
The proposed deal includes a 43-km transit corridor connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan, an exclave that is separated from Azerbaijan by Armenian territory. The corridor will be named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity.
