Kolkata Aug 10 (UNI) East Bengal FC will look to close out their Group A campaign in the 134th Indian Oil Durand Cup on a high when they take on the Indian Air Force Football Team at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan today.
According to the Indian Super League website, “Indian Super League (ISL) side East Bengal FC will be aiming for their third straight win in the Durand Cup when they take on the Indian Air Force Football Team at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan.”
The Red & Gold Brigade have been in commanding form so far, sitting “atop Group A with six points from two matches, ahead of Namdhari FC, who also have six points but from three games.”
They began their campaign with a resounding 5-0 win over South United FC in a hard fought encounter, ISL stated.
IAF FT, meanwhile, have endured a tough tournament and are “already out of contention for a knockout berth, having secured just one point from their first two games. Bottom-placed South United FC also have one point, which came from their draw against IAF FT.”
Although East Bengal have already secured top spot, the club remains determined to keep their winning momentum. “For East Bengal FC, the objective will be to maintain their winning momentum and head into the knockout stage with a perfect record, making this a key clash despite already being top of the group,” the report added.
