Drugs worth over Rs 2.17 cr in statewide crackdown

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police have intensified their campaign against illegal narcotics trafficking, cultivation and distribution, registering major successes across the state over the past five days. Police operations in several districts have led to the seizure of illegal drugs, vehicles and equipment valued at over Rs 2.17 crore, with multiple accused arrested under the NDPS Act.

In Neemuch district, Rampura police unearthed large-scale illegal cannabis cultivation in remote forested and plateau areas using drone surveillance and a strong informer network. A total of 14 quintals and 45 kilograms of green cannabis plants were seized from two locations, with an estimated value of Rs 1.21 crore. Legal action has been initiated against the landowners.

In Ratlam, police cracked down on poppy husk trafficking in two separate cases. Station Road police seized 2 quintals and 80 kilograms of poppy husk from a car, while Alot police recovered 56.7 kilograms from bags near the railway station. Assets worth Rs 51.63 lakh were seized in the district.

Indore police arrested an inter-state smuggler under Operation “Eagle Claw”, seizing 87 kilograms of poppy husk and a truck worth Rs 35 lakh. Brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh was also recovered in a separate case.

In Jabalpur, joint teams recovered over 20 kilograms of ganja in two operations. Police officials said sustained action reflects their commitment to making the state drug-free.
