Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 5 (UNI) The Kerala State Drugs Control Department has banned the distribution and sale of several batches of medicines found to be of substandard quality during quality checks conducted at its laboratories in the second quarter of July.
The State Drugs Controller has directed all traders and hospitals that may have these medicines in stock to return them to the respective distributors and inform the concerned District Drugs Control Authorities.
A batch of Gentamicin Injection IP, manufactured by Nandani Medical Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., located at Bicholi Hapsi, Kanadia Road, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with batch number GMV22318 and expiry date 08/2025, has been found to be substandard and is banned from sale.
Three batches of Sodium Chloride Injection IP 0.9% w/v 10ml Pyrogen Free (for use as a diluent in Combi pack), manufactured by Sunlife Pharma Services at Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh, have been banned; the affected batch numbers are 24062008 (expiry 05/2028), 24052009 (expiry 04/2028), and 24052011 (expiry 04/2028).
Paracetamol Tablets IP 500mg, bearing batch number PAK-642 and manufactured by Healer’s Lab (Unit-II), Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with an expiry date of 01/2027, have been declared substandard.
A batch of Sodium Bicarbonate Enteric Coated Tablets 500mg (SB-Net 500), manufactured by Supermax Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Roorkee, Uttarakhand, with batch number STG-250027 and expiry 12/2026, is also banned from sale.
The batch numbered LC5T601 of Lapcard-5 (Enalapril Maleate Tablets IP 5mg), manufactured by Tulbros Formulations, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, with expiry 06/2026, has been banned.
Two batches of Vitamin B Complex Tablets NFI, manufactured by Modern Laboratories, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have also been banned; these include batch VBT 2488 (expiry 04/2026) and batch VBT 2497 (expiry 05/2026).
Gabapentin & Methylcobalamin Tablets (GABATRON M 100), batch number DPT240680, manufactured by Daxin Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with expiry 10/2026, has been declared substandard.
Ondansetron Tablets IP 4mg, bearing batch number ONTB-04 and manufactured by Nestor Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Faridabad, Haryana, with expiry 05/2026, is also on the banned list.
Pantoprazole Sodium Tablets IP (Two PI-40), batch VDFT-267, manufactured by Vzoic Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Mohali, Punjab, with expiry 11/2026, has been banned.
Folic Acid Tablets IP 5mg (FOLDIVIT), batch number FTV24006, manufactured by Danish Health Care Pvt. Ltd., Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, with expiry 08/2026, is also banned.
Levocetirizine Hydrochloride and Montelukast Sodium Tablets IP (Recet-M), batch number APT240098, manufactured by Ciel Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with expiry 10/2026, has been declared substandard.
Donepezil Hydrochloride Tablets IP 5mg (JIYI 5), batch number 19022, manufactured by Elikem Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Gandhinagar, Gujarat, with expiry 12/2027, is also banned.
A batch of Calcium and Vitamin D3 Tablets IP (Calblend), with batch number 25DO-42, manufactured by Octis Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Dehradun, Uttarakhand, with expiry 03/2027, has been banned from sale.
Two batches of Nitroglycerin Controlled Release Tablets manufactured by Goodman Pharmaceuticals, Puducherry, are also included in the ban—Liras GTN 6.4 (6.4mg), batch LL6T2201 (expiry 10/2025), and Liras GTN 2.6 (2.6mg), batch LLST2403 (expiry 01/2028).
Omeprazole Capsules IP 20mg, batch number C50056, manufactured by Zenith Drugs Ltd., Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with expiry 01/2027, has been declared substandard.
Verapamil Hydrochloride Tablets IP 40mg (CALAPTIN 40), batch number CSY24008, manufactured by Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, expiring in 11/2026, has also been banned.
Rabeprazole Gastro-Resistant Tablets IP (Rabilife-20), batch number LE224100, manufactured by Lividus Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Chennai and produced at Rangpo, Sikkim, with expiry 07/2026, has been declared substandard.
Finally, a batch of Amoxycillin, Potassium Clavulanate and Lactic Acid Bacillus Tablets (AMOXYTIS CV 625), batch number VT 242101, manufactured by VADSP Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with expiry 04/2026, is also banned from use.
