Dhanteras draws large crowds, buyers flood bullion, utensil markets

Bhopal: On Tuesday, Dhanteras sparked a bustling shopping scene across major cities in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal and Indore. Crowds thronged Bhopal’s bullion and utensils markets, with residents seizing the auspicious occasion for various purchases, from gold and silver to utensils and even electric vehicles.

In Bhopal, the bullion market saw a noticeable rise in demand for fancy jewelry, despite recent hikes in gold and silver prices. Shoppers, eager to make the most of the auspicious Tripushkar Yoga, lined up in large numbers at Malviya Nagar, purchasing a mix of traditional and contemporary designs. Tripushkar Yoga, believed to triple the benefits of purchases made during this period, further fueled enthusiasm.

The festival also highlighted a trend shift in utensils, as more customers favored copper and brass over steel. In the automobile sector, showrooms, especially for electric vehicles, reported a significant uptick in foot traffic. Two-wheeler sales saw an 8-10% increase over the previous year, suggesting growing interest in eco-friendly alternatives.

The celebration marked the start of the Deepotsav festivities with Dhanteras, or Dhanvantari Jayanti, providing auspicious timings throughout the day for shopping, investments, and new beginnings. The day concluded with prayers to Dhanvantari, Kuber, and Lakshmi, invoking prosperity for the upcoming year.
