- Skill Is the Real Currency, Employment-Oriented Courses in IT and Agriculture Introduced for Youth : CM Dr. Yadav
- Governor,CM Participate in National Workshop on ‘Employment-Oriented Education: Trends and New Opportunities’ under Viksit Bharat @2047
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that while today is the age of currency, skill is the true currency, and India understands this well. That is why, through innovation, we are moving toward skill development. Madhya Pradesh is primarily agricultural and rapidly developing state. Therefore, we have extended agricultural education to general colleges. If youths want to pursue a career in agriculture, they should be equipped with knowledge of modern technology. The scope of universities should expand, and all such courses should be offered there, he said.
Governor Shri Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed these views while addressing the national workshop on ‘Employment-Oriented Education: Trends and New Opportunities’under Madhya Pradesh @2047, organized by the Department of Higher Education. The workshop was held on Wednesday at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium.
Governor Shri Patel said the workshop is timely and provides a strong platform for preparing for the future. It is an effective step toward contributing to development of India through employment-focused education. He said that education is the backbone of society. It enables individuals, communities, and the nation to adapt to the times, adopt innovations, and seize new opportunities. Therefore, our education system should not only provide access to employment opportunities but also empower students towards self-reliance.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that education leads to holistic development of a person. This workshop is being held to address the changing times by developing employment-oriented education and opportunities. He said that national education policies were previously deliberated in 1968 and then in 1988. Now, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a third major reflection on education is underway. However, before 2020, after independence, no serious thought was given to moving away from Lord Macaulay’s colonial education system.
Dr. Yadav said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a visionary who understood the essence of governance. In that spirit, he restored the Somnath temple and worked to strengthen the country’s roots. Mahatma Gandhi used the weapon of non-violence to awaken the spirit of freedom across villages in India. The Chief Minister stated that the world is eager to align with India. Invaders attacked India’s cultural identity by destroying major centres of learning like Takshashila, Nalanda and Vikramshila. Madhya Pradesh is a land of 64 traditional arts. That is why Lord Krishna came to Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain for his education. We are from a land where truth resides on the lips, and true education is what brings truth to speech.
Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has over 70 public and private universities. India is a Vishwaguru (global teacher), and a true teacher is one who dispels darkness from life and brings light. Even JNU has now imbibed Madhya Pradesh’s tradition of Chancellors. The state government has already begun implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) in over 10,000 educational institutions. More than 220 Sandipani schools have been established in the state, equipped with modern computer coding labs for students. Education should not be merely about acquiring a paper degree but should prepare students to understand and tackle future challenges. That is why courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing and Biotechnology have been introduced in state universities, he said.
Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh ranks third in milk production in the country and aims to reach the top. With over 6 crore livestock, the state government is focusing on increasing the number of veterinary colleges. Along with expanding irrigation coverage, the state is also committed to enhancing fish production.
Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar said that education has always held the highest status. Indian culture promotes tradition of value-based, employment-generating education. Without values, we cannot create ideal and responsible citizens. The state’s new education policy and the initiative to fix accountability will set an example across the nation and become a milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s history.
At the beginning of the programme, Governor Shri Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department, Shri Anupam Rajan, welcomed the Governor with a plant, coconut, traditional shawl, and memento. Subject experts, including Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, and Dr. A.C.
