New Delhi/Odense Oct 18 (UNI) India’s Lakshya Sen bowed out of the Denmark Open 2025 badminton tournament after losing his men’s singles quarter-final match at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense.

According to the Olympics.com, Lakshya’s fellow Indian badminton players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s doubles event in Denmark.

Lakshya Sen, currently ranked 21st in the world, went down 21-9, 21-14 to world No. 7 Alex Lanier of France in 44 minutes yesterday.

The 23-year-old, who had stunned world No. 2 Anders Antonsen in the previous round, struggled to recover in both games after falling behind early. He trailed 11-5 and 11-4 at the two mid-game intervals.

In contrast, Satwik and Chirag, seeded sixth in the BWF Super 750 tournament, marched into their eighth semi-final of the year with a 21-15, 18-21, 21-16 win over Indonesia’s unseeded pair Muhammad Rian Ardianto-Rahmat Hidayat in 65 minutes.

The Indian pair took the opening game after breaking away from 17-16 with four consecutive points.

Though the Indian badminton players mounted a strong comeback in the second game to draw level at 17-all after being 10-4 down, the Indonesians held firm to force a decider, the website noted.

In the third, Satwik and Chirag quickly regained control after an even start and sustained the momentum to seal victory and a place in the semi-finals.

The duo will next face Japan’s world No. 10 duo, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi today. The Indian pair have the edge in their head-to-head, leading 4-1 against the Japanese. However, the last meeting between the two pairs happened in 2023.
