New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) The Delhi Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday approved re- organization of the eleven Revenue Districts of the national capital, into thirteen districts.
The cabinet gave its nod to reorganise 11 existing revenue districts into thirteen units that will be fully sharing the same boundaries with the 12 existing Municipal Corporation of Delhi zones, NDMC, and Delhi Cantonment Board.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the development, saying “One Delhi, One Boundary, One Window- this decision brings the government closer and simpler for every citizen.”
She called it a historic step towards adapting Delhi’s administrative system to the requirements of the current day and age, and it will ensure that citizens receive services more quickly, transparently, and conveniently, she assured.
The Gazette notification for this will come within fifteen days, and complete operationalisation will be done by the month of December.
The step is expected to end decades-old jurisdictional confusion between revenue districts and the MCD zones in the city.
This will increase the number of sub- divisions to 39, which earlier stood at 33.
Now there are 39 Sub-Registrar offices, that were earlier 22 in number, which will make property registration smoother and more transparent.
Their jurisdictions will also be fully aligned with the sub-division boundaries.
In order to ensure one stop public services, there will be Mini Secretariats in all the thirteen districts of the national capital.
Notably, this reform is aimed to significantly improve ease of living, speed up service delivery, and ensure seamless coordination across land records, property registration, civic services, and grievance redressal.
The re-organised districts include South East, with sub divisions Jangpura, Kalkaji and Badarpur.
Old Delhi, with subdivisions Sadar Bazar and Chandni Chowk.
North district, with sub divisions Burari, Adarsh Nagar, and Badli.
