New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Parliament House and presented a new coffee table book chronicling a century of India’s parliamentary evolution.
The publication, titled ‘Shatabdi-Yatra, Veer Vithalbhai Patel’, has been curated by the Delhi Assembly and documents India’s legislative development from 1925 to 2025. It is dedicated to Vithalbhai Patel, the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly.
According to officials, the volume brings together archival photographs, historical records, and key moments that have shaped the country’s parliamentary institutions over the last hundred years.
A section of the book focuses on the 2025 All India Speakers’ Conference, which marked the centenary of Patel’s election and revisited his role in laying the early foundations of India’s modern legislative processes.
During the meeting, Gupta also briefed the Prime Minister on several ongoing initiatives in the Delhi Assembly. These included the rollout of the Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS), which he said enables real-time tracking of audit observations across departments and is now fully operational in the National Capital Territory.
He further updated the Prime Minister on the Assembly’s shift to digital procedures under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), part of its effort to conduct House business paperlessly. Gupta said the Assembly has also completed its transition to solar power.
Another project underway is the proposal to develop the Delhi Assembly as a public-facing heritage site, aimed at allowing citizens to access archival material and better understand the institution’s legislative history.
