New Delhi, 11 Jan (UNI): Delhi Police on Sunday conducted a comprehensive outreach program under its ‘Eyes and Ears’ Scheme across police stations in all districts, metro units, and IGIA units.
The initiative saw massive public participation, with thousands of citizens attending the program in person.
The participants included members of Market Welfare Associations (MWAs), Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), hotel owners, second-hand car dealers, fruit and vegetable vendors, security personnel, porters, and other community representatives.
The program aimed to raise awareness about the ‘Eyes and Ears’ Scheme, which encourages public vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities, individuals, or potential criminal acts.
RWAs were advised to enhance CCTV coverage, conduct tenant verification, and monitor hawker entry, while MWAs were urged to preserve CCTV footage, attend police briefings, and share critical information with members.
Hotel owners were instructed to verify guest identities and maintain meticulous occupancy records, and SIM card vendors were reminded to comply with Department of Telecommunications guidelines.
Second-hand car dealers were advised to ensure proper verification and timely transfer of vehicle ownership.
Special emphasis was placed on parking attendants and chemical shop owners, who were advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Emergency numbers, including the ERSS 112 and Delhi Police ‘Eyes and Ears’ Helpline 14547, were shared to facilitate prompt reporting.
Educational pamphlets, posters, and awareness videos were provided to reinforce key messages.
The initiative reflects Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts under Commissioner Satish Golchha to strengthen community policing and foster public participation in safety and security.
