Delhi Mayor stresses on collective responsibility to address civic challenges

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on Tuesday stressed on the need for “collective responsibility” in addressing the civic challenges of the city. He was speaking at a special meeting of the MCD convened for administering the oath of office of the newly elected councillors at the recent by-elections.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in the presence of members of the House and senior officials of the Corporation.
Congratulating the newly elected Councillors, the Mayor extended his best wishes to all councillors and stressed the need for collective responsibility in addressing civic challenges. He underlined that unity, coordination and dedication among elected representatives were essential for effective municipal governance and for ensuring the welfare of the people of Delhi.
Addressing the House, the Mayor briefed members about various decisions which are proposed to be taken during the special meeting. He reiterated the MCD’s commitment to strengthening civic administration and improving the quality of life for residents across the national capital.
The Mayor highlighted the Corporation’s focus on efficient service delivery, transparency and a responsive administrative framework. He urged councillors to actively participate in initiatives related to public welfare and urban development, and to work closely with officials for timely implementation of policies and projects.
Emphasising the public participation, Singh said that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is continuously working to enhance citizen engagement in governance. He assured that works related to sanitation, public health, education, infrastructure development and environmental protection will be taken up on a priority basis.
The special meeting concluded with a collective resolve to work in a coordinated and constructive manner for the overall development of Delhi, with the objective of making the capital cleaner, safer and more developed.
