Delhi CM’s attacker identified as Gujarat resident

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) The individual who attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been identified as a 35 year old Rajesh Bhai Khimge, a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, police said.

The Delhi Police have contacted their Gujarat counterparts to verify his background, investigate his previous records, and uncover any potential motives or political affiliations. Sources said the assault was premeditated.

During the Jan Sunwai, he not only hit the CM with documents linked to his relatives who are lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail but also slapped her and pulled her hair before being overpowered by security.

Following the incident, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed Delhi Police to prepare and submit a comprehensive report on the major security breach at the earliest.

National BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari confirmed to UNI about the Central government’s involvement, stating, “MHA has taken cognizance of the serious incident and has asked the police to file a report regarding the attack.”

The probe continues as authorities work to understand the full scope of the security lapse.
