New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Launching a scathing attack on opposition parties and responding to recent remarks by leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today accused them of indulging in caste-based politics for years, adding that now “they are dragging the Army into the quagmire”.
Gupta held multiple road shows and public meetings in Arwal, Gaya City, and Aurangabad assembly constituencies of Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday during a rally in Bihar’s Kutumba claimed that the Indian Army is “under the control of 10 per cent of the country’s population”, in a reference to upper castes.
“If you look closely, 90 per cent of the country’s population is Dalit, Maha Dalit, backward, extremely backward, or from minority communities. Ninety percent of the people come from the most backward and tribal sections of society,” Rahul had said, triggering a controversy.
The Delhi CM said the politics being done by opposition parties was shameful. “Those who can defame the nation abroad, question the integrity of our armed forces, compromise national security, or even deny the existence of Lord Ram, I’d simply say they should be ashamed of themselves.”
She also took a jibe at the RJD; saying, “Those who once consumed fodder meant for cattle are now trying to feed the people with lies and false promises.”
“The people of Bihar are wise. They will no longer fall into their trap,” Gupta said.
She also alleged that Bihar had suffered darkness, lawlessness, and corruption under the ‘lantern’ regime. “The NDA government has given the state a new direction through better law and order and accelerated development,” she said.
The people of Bihar have seen through the politics of casteism, dynasty, and corruption, and are now going to choose development and good governance, she added.
Gupta emphasized that BJP was committed to ushering in a new era of politics in Bihar, which is focused on education, healthcare, employment, and infrastructure.
Earlier in the day, Delhi CM began her campaign day in the state by paying homage at Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib, offering prayers for the progress and prosperity of Bihar and the nation.
