New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) The Delhi Assembly will hold a discussion on the issue of pollution today.
Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta informed the House on Tuesday that the discussion has been listed for January 7, during which members will debate measures and steps related to pollution in the national capital.
The Speaker said all members would be given an adequate opportunity to participate in the discussion on pollution. He accused the opposition of “indulging in politics and theatrics” over a serious issue and termed their conduct “insensitive”.
“If the opposition is serious and sensitive, it should participate in the discussion tomorrow. Misleading people and making false statements is not appropriate,” Gupta said.
The Speaker further said that the House was ready to hold a discussion for several hours on the pollution issue. “When the government itself is prepared for a discussion on pollution, why is the opposition resorting to drama? The opposition is disrupting the proceedings of the House,” he said. He also questioned the Leader of Opposition on why the public was being misled when time had already been allocated for discussion on the issue.
Delhi environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also said that the government is fully prepared for a debate on the work done on pollution in the past eleven months. However, the Aam Aadmi Party continues to run away from any meaningful discussion.
