Delhi Assembly holds digital training before Winter Session, aims to cut paper use

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) The Delhi Legislative Assembly on Wednesday conducted the second session of the digital training programme for officials from several GNCTD departments to prepare them for using the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) during the upcoming Winter Session. The initiative is part of the Assembly’s ongoing shift to paperless legislative work.

Presiding over the session, Speaker Vijender Gupta said the move to digitise records would significantly reduce the Assembly’s dependence on printed documents. “Every document we digitise is a promise we keep to the environment,” he told officials, urging them to adopt the new system efficiently.

Officers from the IT Department conducted hands-on sessions for participants from departments including Social Welfare, SC/ST Welfare, Cooperative, Election, Law and Justice, Labour, Employment, Development, Art and Culture, Tourism, Industries, Food and Supplies, and Environment and Forest.

According to officials, the NeVA platform will replace the large volumes of paperwork generated for questions and answers, bills, papers laid on the table, and other routine business of the House. The system is expected to streamline communication between government departments and the legislature, improve turnaround time, and ensure better tracking of submissions.

Senior officers of the Legislative Assembly Secretariat were also present during the session.

Assembly officials said the digital shift is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of legislative processes. The Speaker expressed confidence that the effort would help create a more transparent and future-ready legislative framework and could serve as a model for other state assemblies.
