Dehra (Kangra), Feb 9 (UNI) Dehra Police arrested four young drug traffickers at two different locations in the Dehra Police district under the ‘Drug-Free Himachal’ campaign. Heroin and charas were seized from their possession, and cases were registered under various sections of the NDPS Act, police said on Monday.
Superintendent of Police, Dehra district, Mayank Choudhary, told UNI that Jawalamukhi Police took effective action to curb the consumption and trafficking of heroin, charas, and other narcotic substances. During patrol duty, the police searched and apprehended two youths identified as Manish Kumar, a resident of village Vadoli, and Shivansh Chaudhary (21).
During the search, four grams of heroin (chitta) were recovered from their possession. Based on the recovery, a case under Sections 21 and 61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered, and further legal proceedings are underway, the SP said.
He further stated that in another case on the same day, police searched two more suspects near “Babe Di Pattiyaan” on suspicion. The accused were identified as Ankit Kumar alias Anku (22) and Aryan alias Ladda (22), both residents of Kangra district.
Police recovered 30 grams of charas from their possession. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Jawalamukhi Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
