Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi flag off the first batch of BrahMos missiles

Lucknow, Oct 18 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, today flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow, warning Pakistan that ”every inch of Pakistani territory is within BrahMos’ reach.”

“Our adversaries will no longer be able to escape BrahMos. Every inch of Pakistani territory is within BrahMos’ reach. The Operation (Sindoor) was only a trailer away, but it wasn’t a trailer. Pakistan realized that if India can give birth to a Pakistan-India conflict, what can it do when the time comes? I don’t need to say anything,” he said while speaking on the occasion.

“I have planted a Rudraksha tree in this complex. Rudraksha is considered a form of Mahadev. I wish that

Mahadev’s blessings remain on this complex,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “This is the foundation of a self-reliant India… So far, we have provided more than 2,500 acres of land for this in six nodes. This has provided employment to more than 15,000 youth in the state.”

Yogi said the Director General of BrahMos and the Defense Minister recently presented us with a GST cheque for Rs 40 crore… I then told DRDO, ‘Tell me how much land you need; we will provide it to you right here.’

He said 100 BrahMos missiles will be manufactured every year and the capacity will increase to 150 in the future. The state government will receive Rs 150 to 200 crore annually through GST from these missiles.”

According to an official statement, this is not only a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but will also provide new impetus to India’s resolve to achieve self-reliance in Defence manufacturing.

The statement said BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of the BrahMos supersonic missile system, has successfully produced the first batch of this missile system from its new integration and test centre in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow.

This state-of-the-art facility, which was inaugurated on May 11, 2025, is equipped with all modern facilities for missile integration, testing, and final quality checks. After successful testing, the missiles are prepared for deployment by the Indian Armed Forces.

With the flagging off of the first batch of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, a significant milestone towards Defence self-reliance has been reached. The establishment of this unit is a significant step for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and provides a boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
