Death toll from stampede at Umayyad mosque in Damascus rises to 4

Istanbul, Jan 11 (UNI) The death toll from the stampede at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus has increased to four people, Syrian newspaper Al-Watan has reported, citing the Damascus Health Department.

On Friday, Turkish TV channel Ahaber reported that three people were killed.

The stampede occurred after an invitation to a free food giveaway launched by a local blogger, Al-Watan reported on Friday.

At least 16 people were hospitalized, of which only one child remained at the hospital by the evening, the report read.
