Johannesburg, (UNI) South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has reversed his decision to retire from One-Day Internationals, returning to the Proteas squad for the upcoming tour of Pakistan.
Regular captain Temba Bavuma will miss the tour due to a left calf grade two strain sustained during the team’s England tour. Aiden Markram will lead the Test side, Matthew Breetzke will captain the ODIs, and David Miller will helm the T20I squad.
De Kock, who retired from ODIs after the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and had been absent from all formats since the 2024 T20 World Cup, is expected to strengthen South Africa’s white-ball lineup ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup and 2027 ODI World Cup.
The tour begins with the first Test in Lahore on October 12, followed by a second Test in Rawalpindi on October 20, then three ODIs and three T20Is.
Spinner Keshav Maharaj will only feature in the second Test, while Senuran Muthusamy, Prenelan Subrayen and Simon Harmer will handle most spin duties.
The Proteas pace attack for the Tests will be led by Kagiso Rabada, Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen. Lungi Ngidi and Dane Paterson are unavailable for Tests but Ngidi will join the whiteball squad.
South Africa will also field a young side in a one-off T20I against Namibia under Donovan Ferreira.
