The students of DAV Ispat Public School Sector-2, paid a visit to the nearby school (MUSKAAN and PRAYAS), Sector-2, for the Children with special needs on July 15, during its school hours. It was undertaken as a part of activity based on the prescribed text syllabus in the Social Science subject. It was a unique experience for both the children as well as the teachers, interacting with such children who were considered as specially challenged children.
The students were very excited and shared quite a quality time with them getting acquainted with their daily routines, their likes and dislikes, their strength, how they overcome the small challenges that come their way daily. It was a lesson for them, a moment to thank the almighty, to feel being the privileged one in the universe. Some of the students even became emotional, they could empathise with such children.
They had never confronted with the fact that life could be so full of hardships for such children and appreciated, applauded the inner strength with which they faced all these challenges in their day to day life. It gave them a practical knowledge of how to deal and stand by such children who were not as normal as them but weren’t any less than them in any way.
A new phase of life lay open in front of them as they got to know the needs and the requirements of such physically and mentally challenged children. The children distributed sweets to them on their first educational visit.
Such kind of short visits to such schools meant for the specially challenged ones unfolds different attributes of life and helps in inculcating the moralities, the virtues, the kindness, the considerateness, which are fast fading out in today’s digital world.
