Danish court sentences 2 Swedes to prison for using grenades near Israeli Embassy

Copenhagen, Feb 4 (UNI/SPUTNIK) A Danish court has sentenced two Swedish citizens to 12 and 14 years in prison for detonating grenades near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen, Danish media reported.

In October 2025, the Danish prosecutor’s office charged two Swedish citizens with committing a terrorist attack by detonating grenades near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen in October 2024.

Prosecutors said that the 18- and 20-year-olds, in a prior conspiracy and with the help of unknown accomplices, brought five hand grenades to the embassy area, where they threw two of them at the diplomatic mission building but hit a neighboring residential building.

The young men were accused of endangering the diplomatic mission’s security guards and of attempted murder, as residents of an adjacent house could have been affected by the explosion.

In early October 2024, shootings and explosions occurred near Israeli embassies in Stockholm and Copenhagen. The Stockholm police and the Israeli embassy in Denmark reported that embassy staff were not injured.

In Copenhagen, three suspects were detained and identified as Swedish citizens aged between 15 and 20. Copenhagen police reported that two hand grenades caused the explosions near the embassy.
