Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 (UNI) In a sweeping action to curb cyber-enabled financial offences and dismantle organised fraud networks, the Kerala Police arrested 263 individuals and registered 382 cases across the state as part of Operation ‘CY HUNT’, launched on the instructions of State Police Chief Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar.
The coordinated raids were conducted across all police station limits in Kerala. During the operation, 125 individuals were served notices and placed under surveillance.
Those under surveillance include bank account holders whose accounts were allegedly misused for cyber fraud without their knowledge, individuals who received or transferred money through hawala or suspicious transactions, and persons found with indirect or minimal links to cyber financial offences.
The arrests mainly target members of nationwide organised cyber crime rackets involved in fraudulent financial transactions using ATMs, cheques, and other illegal channels, as well as individuals who rented out their bank accounts for commission. All arrested persons have been produced before various courts and remanded to custody.
Further investigation is underway to trace interstate links and uncover the full scale of the fraud. Kerala Police will continue to work with law enforcement agencies in other states to arrest accused persons booked in cases outside Kerala, a release said.
The state-wide enforcement drive was monitored by the Cyber Operations Wing, Range DIGs, and District Police Chiefs.
