CT: Markram leaves field due to hamstring discomfort

Karachi, Mar 1 (UNI) Stand-in South Africa captain Aiden Markram left the field due to discomfort in his hamstring during the ongoing match against England in the Champions Trophy, with Heinrich Klaasen taking over leadership duties in his absence here on Saturday.

Markram was leading the side in place of regular skipper Temba Bavuma, who missed the match due to illness. The information regarding Markram’s injury was relayed through the broadcast feed.

The extent of Markram’s injury remains unclear, but team management confirmed that while he will not return to the field, he will bat in the second innings if required.
